There are two gods doing battle, apparently we're being enlisted as foot soldiers. Think HYDRA without any sort of ...benefit beyond the added bonuses in being a monster. There are people who have been studying the various types, isolating the various types of monsters that people become. A month in, the gods reach down and everyone...turns into a monster. Or starts to. It takes about three months to become a full fledged monster so to speak.
The locals haven't been taking too kindly to us. Rota - Rotans belonged to a different god. Their flesh drives people insane. Most monsters are cannibals by nature but there are alternatives to it, some monsters feed on energy or souls and others feed on flesh. Those who feed on flesh alternate between acceptance and trying to find alternatives. So far, there is no reversal from monster to human. I was looking.
Fitz is what's called a Kelpie from Scottish mythology. Skye is a Harpy. I'm a demon. We live in a house with Elle, she's a werebear, doctor chilton who's a nymph and her father....there are others.
It'd be easier if I could type this honestly on an official form.

Monsters and Magic. Exactly what SHIELD was suppose to help with. Where on Earth are we anyhow? Everything looks so... dated.

Just Fitz and Skye and me.
A monster kidnapped Fitz. He tried to do it to hurt me. He tortured Fitz and then killed him. Skye and I killed the monster in retaliation. Ever since then I try...not to truck with the monster side of things but it's hard. Being a monster comes with a new set of instincts.

So I am guessing. It sounds like you're battling general mythology with all this. new instincts and mentality. There's got to be a way to reverse it though...
Maybe. [There was Raina... and she's a monster. Or was... that wasn't... fixable, was it. And then there is Skye and her Quaking thing. And.... right. Not even going to bring all that up.]

It usually hits when the fog rolls in. Monsters get worse. You'll...be able to observe it with Skye and I possibly. I was staying away when I found out you were here.
